During a meeting of the Executive Committee this evening, a recommendation to approve a new enhanced garden waste collection was approved by members.
Currently this is a service that is delivered as a shared service with Bromsgrove. As a consequence we have a very limited number of brown bins within that service and it has been at capacity for some time.
The new scheme will be run by Redditch for the people of Redditch and will have a dedicated team and vehicle to run it.
It is hoped that once approved at Full council in November that the scheme can be ready for the 2024 collection season which would start in early spring.
Cllr Gemma Monaco says, "I'm delighted this has come to Executive as its something i get asked about a lot.
"The cost will be £60 per year with an additional one off £20 fee to register (and get a bin)"
Many people have wanted a garden waste bin but we were at capacity.
These plans, coming to full council, will increase capacity so more people can recycle their garden waste rather than it being incinerated in the grey bin or needing to go to the tip.
