Schools in Redditch and the Villages are set to benefit from record funding as England’s core school budget reaches its highest ever level in real terms.
The Government is boosting school funding to reach almost £60 billion in 2024-25 - its highest ever level in real terms - with Redditch and the Villages benefitting from a total funding increase of £1,138,859 in 2024-25 compared to 2023-24. This means the total funding for all schools in Redditch and the Villages will reach £66,675,900 in 2024-25.
To support schools in disadvantaged areas to raise educational outcomes for pupils who need it most, Pupil Premium funding rates will increase to £1,480 for primary pupils and £1,050 for secondary pupils in 2024-25, an increase of 10% since 2021-22.
This funding also includes an extra £440 million investment to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)to fund special schools and provide mainstream schools with additional resources to meet the needs of pupils with complex SEND.
Meanwhile, the Government’s widespread education reforms has seen England continue to rise up the global rankings in maths, reading, and science. Last month, England was ranked 11th in the world for maths, up from 27th in 2009, placing England as one of the top performing countries in the western world, and in May, England was named ‘best in the west’ for primary reading.
Rachel Maclean, MP for Redditch and the Villages, said: “As a proud product of the state school system myself, I know how vital a first-class education is to unlocking the full potential of our young people.
“Key to this is ensuring schools receive the funding they need. That’s why I welcome the Conservative Government’s decision to increase total funding for schools across Redditch and the Villages this year, as education funding reaches almost £60billion in 2024-25.
“This funding will help ensure our schools have the funding and tools they need to make sure every child receives the world class education they deserve for a brighter future.”
