Brandon Clayton and Gareth Prosser, Conservative County Councillor candidates for Redditch North, have spoken out against the Redditch 'Local Plan' and the catastrophic effect it will have on the community of Webheath and its infrastructure.
Brandon and Gareth argued strongly at the recent Borough Council meeting, when the plan was discussed, that it was seriously flawed and should not be adopted. However theirs and the pleas of other Conservatives councillors went unheeded and they were out-voted when Labour councillors voted in favour of adopting the Local Plan.
This plan will mean years of upheaval and disruption for the residents of Webheath. Councillors Prosser and Clayton told the Chamber that there are serious issues with this plan, not least the lack of infrastructure in Webheath to be able to support such a large number of houses.
There are other, better, areas in Bromsgrove district which could accommodate Redditch’s housing needs, and which are much better suited to this size of development, such as Bordesley. However, these suggestions have been consistently ignored by local planners.
