The Conservatives in Redditch were out in force on Saturday 4 November with teams active around Abbey Ward with Julian Grubb, and our key target of Church Hill that is being fought by Mike Rouse.

We were joined in both sessions by our Member of Parliament, Rachel Maclean, along with sitting councillors at both Borough and County level.
The team were pleased to hear residents views and concerns. It is often the case that issues portrayed in the press don't resonate with ordinary voters, and the same was true on Saturday. The people we spoke to are concerned about security first and foremost. That means:
- The security of their income through their job security,
- The security and certainty of their mortgage payments by ensuring interest rates are well managed,
- The security of the economy overall - having endured tough times people don't want Labour's failed economic policies under a Marxist government.
The Labour Party is keen to portray the Conservatives as divided, but the message on the doorsteps is very different. People are happy with Theresa May and the work the government is doing to get a good Brexit deal for Britain. People we spoke to were more concerned about the threat posed by Jeremy Corbyn leading a socialist government and what that would mean for them.
Leadership
Redditch Conservatives is leading the way in Redditch - so much so that the local Labour Party has decided to follow our lead in various ways:
- We campaigned in Abbey Ward on Saturday; Labour turned up on Sunday.
- We have been talking about our positive vision for Redditch; now Labour want to talk about their 'positive vision for Redditch' despite having been in control of the Borough Council and done nothing positive for the town in all this time.
- We held a very successful fish and chip supper to welcome our new members; Labour did the same event a few weeks later.
So it's clear that Labour in Redditch has run out of ideas, lacks leadership and in terms of vision is only able to copy what it sees your local Conservatives doing.
